I have never met anyone that enjoyed moving. In fact, I would put it up there with paying taxes and a painful dental procedure. People often think renting a moving truck saves a lot of money. However, if you have ever been through a “do it yourself move”, you quickly discover the costs and headache can be more than you bargained for. Those friends and family that said they would be available to help suddenly have other things come up and you find yourself scrambling to find people to help you load and unload on moving day.  Or, you find that cousin Bubba manhandled the box with your great grandmother’s fine china and it was broken during the move. Not to mention, you are completely exhausted at the end of the day taking copious amounts of ibuprofen because every muscle in your body hurts.

There are some steps you can take to prepare for moving to minimize the stress and make sure your furniture and possessions arrive safely.  Planning your move should start several weeks before moving day.
